Developing Countries and Solutions that Help the Planet and the Ecosystem
I have been discussing the earth and our ecosystem for some time now, offering solutions to problems that harm our planet. Paperless forms can prevent excessive paper usage, recycling and reusing items can save money and natural resources, and choosing to walk, cycle, or use public transportation can reduce carbon emissions. These simple steps, if followed, can make a significant difference in the future of our planet.
Developing Countries Often Have Little-to-No Sustainable Options
However, I must admit that there are areas where I do not practice what I preach. I don’t always recycle, take public transport, or walk to my destinations. This is not because I don’t want to help the environment, but rather because in some places, it is not feasible. I have been to locations where recycling bins are nonexistent, and the citizens have other pressing concerns that take precedence over environmental issues.
The Political Landscape of Developing Countries
Developing countries often face more political and environmental challenges than developed countries, and it is understandable that the environment may not be their top priority. However, the earth is in a critical state, and it is crucial to raise awareness, even if it is as simple as reminding a friend to turn off a light switch or not leave the tap running. Recycling, while important, is not the only way to help the environment. In these areas, it is essential to be more conscious of energy usage. Conserve water and electricity, reuse plastic bags and other items until they are no longer usable, and dispose of them properly. Carpooling with friends or coworkers can save money, fuel, and reduce carbon emissions.
When it comes to paper usage, emphasize the importance of digital files over physical documents. Encourage the use of flash drives instead of folders, and try to avoid printing unless absolutely necessary.
Awareness of eco-friendly solutions and environmental issues should be raised in countries that need it the most, such as West Africa, the sub-Saharan region, and parts of the Middle East.
